My father drew this when he was in the band for the Sammy Davis Jr. Show in the mid 60's. It was at this time that he started doing the sketches. This is one of the earliest.The show lasted a season but then the Cavett show soon came along. Dad had a great relationship with Sammy up until Sammy asked my father to go on the road with him. For a number of reasons, including the fact that my father didn't want to go on the road, as he had done that in the 40's and had no desire to do that again, he told him he couldn't. Sammy never talked to my father again.
